Huntsville Otters extend win streak in game against Innisfil on Friday

This past Friday saw a lively game by the Hometown Otters, as they hosted the Innisfil Spartans.

The Otters started the game hot with a lot of fast paced passing plays, big hits, and a ton of pressure in the Spartans end. Just over 4 minutes in, Ben Power – 25, and Damon Buttus – 19, started a break out in the Otters end to pass it up to Jack MacInally – 6 on the rush. A well-placed shot from the high slot puts the Otters up 1-0. Just past the halfway point of the first period saw the Otters on the powerplay. A blueline shot from Ben Power – 25, found Rhett MacFarlane – 8 out front to make sure the puck found the back of the net to put the Otters up by 2. With just under one minute remaining in the opening period, the Otters found themselves in a 4-on-4. A faceoff win back to Braxton Bullen – 27, set up Damon Buttus – 19, for a wrap-around goal to have the Otters finish off the first period leading 3-1.

The Otters came out in the second looking to continue to dominate. Just over a minute into the period, a pad save off a shot by Ben Power – 25, led to a goal by Gavin Williams – 9, and Power’s 3rd point of the night. The rest of the second saw lots of big hits, fast plays, and a very important save off a shot from the hashmarks by Otters goaltender Darian Willis – 30, to come out of the second period up 4-2.

Going into the final 20 minutes, the Otters knew the Spartans were going to come out looking to get something going. The hometown Otters used their shutdown defence, along with some stellar goaltending to finalize the score at 4-2, and extend their win streak to 3.

Your Huntsville Otters kick off an away weekend on Friday when they play in Midland, before heading to Muskoka Saturday evening as they look to keep rolling.
